Sophie started work as an ecologist and botanist in Sussex, enjoying
the coast and the hills of the South Downs. She still works in this field, doing vital surveys for the of flora and fauna within Hampshire. Notably in the Itchen Valley and coastline around Hamble.
Since moving to Hampshire and raising a family Sophie has expanded her focus. Encouraging wildflowers on verges and getting youngsters out into the outdoors.
Sophie began volunteering at my Forest School sessions in 2016 and went on to complete her Forest School Leader training in early 2021. Since then Sophie set up small pre schools groups sessions, as well as running Forest School sessions to ensure, through the school year it is experienced by all children at the local primary school. The value of her work can not be under estimated.
We have worked together on many standalone woodland based experiences, where I have relied upon and learnt from her deep knowledge and experience of the flora of our woodlands. Sophie is a kind and generous person and has become a great friend. I am hugely looking forward to having her with us on Thursday.
